What compatible wireless system for transmission of data between RC-helicopter and PC?
My project involves an RC-helicopter with a GPS chip for getting its location and a video camera for surveillance. What I need is to transfer the data (location and/or video feed) from the helicopter to a PC wirelessly so we can get the helicopter’s GPS coordinates and view the video feed. I have researched on some available options such as the PC-104 but its too high-end.
Notes:
*The RC-heli will be manually controlled
*Our target distance is not more than 100m and one option we have for the video downlink is via the use of an IP camera, so much focus on the sending of GPS coordinates.
Thanks!
Not yet specified on what GPS chip to use but I’m considering using a GPS chip with a USB port i.e., the wireless module is connected to the GPS chip via a USB port.
Any other suggestions on what GPS chip can be used?

I’m assuming that your GPS chip has a serial output.
Connect that serial output into the input on one of these

and then have a second one connected to the serial port on your PC.
Or for about $20 more they have versions with about 10 times the range. Since you never get the claimed range on radio modules that may be worth the extra money.
